North Aurora Illinois
Founded in 1834, the Village of North Aurora is nestled in the beautiful Fox River Valley about 35 minutes directly west of Chicago. North Aurora is the pinnacle of suburban living and features an active, vibrant community while still maintaining a small-town atmosphere. The village occupies an almost ideal location located on both sides of the Fox River just north of I-88. Most homes in the community have easy access into the City of Chicago by expressway or the local BNSF and Union Pacific West lines of the Metra commuter rail system. North Aurora’s heritage as a river community is undisputed and the village has been quick to embrace the natural and scenic advantages of the river valley. North Aurora has recently adopted the motto, “The Village with a view to the future…”, highlighting the community focus of continuing economic development and improving the way of life for its residents.

North Aurora Layout and Locations
The Village of North Aurora occupies an area just north of I-88 that is longer east-west than it is north-south. This area is geographically divided by the Fox River into east side and west side. The Village Hall is located on the northern portion of North Aurora Island (actually a peninsula) in the center of the river. North Aurora continues to expand westward with several new subdivisions.
North Aurora Businesses
This is a short list of my favorite local businesses that are distinctly North Aurora.
Harner’s Bakery – a North Aurora bakery institution. Good lunch and dinner menu too.
Oberweis – the original dairy and headquarters
Woodman’s Food Market – Wisconsin chain of employee-owned supermarkets
