Warm Spell Hits the Fox Valley
Beginning yesterday and continuing through the weekend, we are experiencing our first warm spell in a while for the Fox Valley area west of Chicago. The mild temperatures combined with a bit of rain has really knocked down the nearly 2-feet of snow we had previously received but has turned many areas of the community into a soggy mess. For Aurora home shoppers, the warm weather should be great for those weekend drives around the community. This should help fuel our Aurora property market as we head farther into spring. Buyer activity has really been good over the past few weeks. However, Aurora home sellers aren’t putting homes on the market in great quantities yet. When I drive through the Golden Oaks Subdivision that I specialize in, I don’t see as many signs in the ground as I would expect. The warm weather should spur home improvements as more Aurora homeowners get out and are able to take care of some of those projects that the snow really makes difficult. You will probably see people hiring a Re Roofing contractor to check the roof for snow or water damage and make look as good as new again for example.
If you are thinking of buying a home in Aurora, take an opportunity this weekend to drive around a bit and see the community. It should be a beautiful weekend. If you are shopping for a home, make sure you take care when out house hunting in Aurora. Watch out for puddles of water – some may still be icy from melted snow piles. Also, if you are seeing a bunch of homes with an Illinois real estate agent, make sure to wear comfortable shoes that have tough insoles. You will likely need to remove your shoes for all showings due to the the still soggy ground. Now that the white stuff is almost all gone, it’s a great time to take a look at the outside of homes you like – get a good look at the roof and yards.
